5.0 out of 5 stars The best movies of all time-now in HD extended editions!!!, May 14, 2011
By R. White (Alabama, USA)

This is absolutely the best movie trilogy of all time. I used to think Star Wars was the best, but when these movies came out, they blew Star Wars out of the water. If you love high fantasy based story lines, it doesn't get any better than this. The acting is top-notch, the director Peter Jackson is pure genius, not to mention the writer of the books, J.R.R. Tolkien. And now, finally, they release the extended editions on Blu-Ray. Thank God. Click to read review in full...

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful masterpiece!, March 22, 2011

Peter Jackson's motion picture trilogy, The Lord of the Rings, is one of remarkable vision and artistic exploration. While staying true to J.R.R Tolkien's novels (as best as Hollywood can) Jackson was able to spin the series into his version of the story and surprise, as well as delight all of its viewers. I have always enjoyed the series, and to be honest I was a little worried when I heard they were going to be making it into 3 motion pictures because I know what Hollywood does to films. I am glad to report that he has blown my expectations out of the water Click to read review in full...

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King: Top Movie Review

Frodo Biggins played by Elijah Wood giving a top rated movies act and Samwise Gamgee layed by Sean Astin giving a top movies performance, accompanying Gollum come to Mina Morgul.

The Fellowship is at Edoras after the victory of Helm's Deep and Gandalf the White, portrayed by Ian Mckellen who is good for top 10 movies list, is of the opinion that Saruman will not attempt another attack.

Sauron enters Pippins, played by Bill Boyd giving a top movies performance, mind through a Palantir and tries to know about the Ring from which Gandalf concludes that he is going to attack Minas Tirith and heads towards it with Pippin. Arwen urges Elrond to resurrect Anduril, the sword that had cut Sauron's finger.

On reaching Minas Tirith Gandalfi and Pippin try to convince Denethor about Sauron's attack and propose he take help from Aragorn but Denethor does not agree. Denethor orders his son Faramir to reclaim the city of Osgiliath from the Nazgul but Faramir and his knights are killed by Nazgul.

At Dunharrow Elrond meets Aragorn and tells him about the Corsair Ships arriving in Minas Tirith and that Arwen's fate is tied with the fate of the Ring. He also hands him the Anduril Sword and asks him to reclaim his throne of Isildur.

Theoden, enacted by Bernard Hill in a top 10 movies role, arrives in Dunharrow with 6000 strong army to ward off the Morgul army. The Witchking is finally defeated but Theoden is killed by him and Eowyn and Merry take revenge by killing Witchking. Gondor is free and Aragorn is crowned the King.

Aragorn portrayed by Viggo Mortensen in a superlative performance of top rated movies, prepares to leave for Black Gate to help Frodo. Frodo and Sam are going to Mount Doom when they are attacked by Gollum, who bites off the finger on which Frodo is wearing the Ring and in the ensuing fight between Frodo and Gollum, both fall off the cliff.

Frodo is saved when he holds on to a ledge but Gollum and the Ring fall into the lava. The destruction of the Ring collapses the Mordor into a chasm, finishing Sauron and his army of Orcs. Frodo decides to leave for the Undying Lands with the Fellowship members except Sam who returns to the Shire to marry his childhood lover Rosie Cotton.

The impact of the start was as heavy as that of the end. A Magnum Opus presented by Peter Jackson. The same tout script, the same flow of the narrative and the same grandeur of the presentation. It will take some years for some other creative genius to match the standards set by Peter.

The Trilogy is like a three course dinner. You can't start with the middle and you can't finish at the first. Once you have seen the Trilogy you may lose your sleep thinking about it but you are sure to lose your peace of mind if you miss it.

Musical score is by Howard Shore, who has also composed for the first two parts of the trilogy.

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring: Top Movie Review

The Dark Lord Sauron makes the One Ring to rule the Middle Earth but when Prince Isildur cuts off his hand the Ring is lost for centuries. In the present times the Ring is with Hobbit Frodo Baggins, enacted by Elijah Wood with a performance of top rated movies. Wizard Gandalf the Grey, played by Ian Mckellen's worthy of top movies performance, finds that the Ring actually belongs to the Dark Lord Sauron. Returning to Bag End he advices Frodo to immediately leave for Rivendell and sends Samwise Gamgee, played by Sean Astin with a top movies performance, Merry and Pippin with him.

On way to Rivendell with Elf Arwen who has magical powers, Frodo is joined by Strider but Gandalf joins Frodo in Rivendell and they learn from Elrond, chief of the Elves that the Ring can only be destroyed in the fires of Mount Doom where it was made. Frodo forms the 'Fellowship of the Ring' with Gandalf, Elf Legolas, Dwarf Gimli, Strider a.k.a Aragorn the Prince of Gondor, played with aplomb like a top rated movies act and Boromir Steward of Gondor's son, enacted by Sean Bean with a strong top 10 movies act and they leave for Mount Doom.

The Fellowship is ambushed by the forces of Saruman on the way but they successfully reach Lothlorien, a safe haven of Elves ruled by husband and wife duo of Celeborn and Galadriel. Galadriel tells him that it's in his destiny to destroy the Ring and gives him the magical Phial of Galadriel when they leave for Parth Galen. At Parth Galen, after Boromir's failed attempt to snatch the Ring, Frodo decides to make the journey alone. After he leaves Uruk-hai under Lurtz's command attack the Fellowship but are stopped by Merry and Pippin. Aragorn tries to avert Lutz's attack on Boromir but is unable to save him. Merry and Pippin are captured and Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas pursue the Orcs to rescue them. Frodo is joined by Sam on the way and they continue their journey to Mount Doom.

Peter Jackson, who has been associated with many top rated movies projects, directs this magic oriented tale about a ring which has Dark Powers. The movie is a sure chart buster and is bound to be in the top 10 movies list of the year. The story and the characterization have been deftly handled by Peter using digital make-up special effects and the viewer is not going to have a dull moment.

Peter has decided to follow the original story of J R R Tolkien which is full of top movies stuff and make a trilogy of the ring. The musical score has been composed by Howard Stone who has got splendid performances by The London Philharmonic Orchestra, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and The London Voices. Viewers are going to wait eagerly for the next edition and the final one to see the fate of the ring.

The Best Blu Ray Movies Take Home Entertainment To The Next Level

A few years ago there was a format war between the blu ray disc and HD DVD for which would be the optical disc for high definition films. And the blu ray finally won out in 2008 so until recently many film companies had not released a full catalogue of blu ray movies. This is changing now, and more and more titles are being released everyday, so if you were unsure before whether to actually get a blu ray player, now is the time to think about it.

Obviously to watch movies in this format properly you also need to have a television with HD capabilities. But if you already do own a HD TV and a blu ray player or a Playstation 3, which is capable of playing the discs, you are ready to watch films at home like you have never seen them before.

At the moment every new movie, and television shows and concerts for that matter, are coming out on blu rays, but many films should be on the top of your list if you are thinking about having a home collection. Or if you are just looking for titles to rent, these are certainly ones to consider.

Its hard to imagine recommending movies that are over seventy years, but the first 3 movies that you should think about are just that, and are movies that belong in any collection no matter the format. The blu rays offer you the opportunity to see them like you never have before, and are by far the highest quality versions ever seen before. The first is Casablanca, and its ultimate collector's edition should be in everyone's collection. It might not stand up technically to movies made today, but if you have seen it before you will be gobsmacked by just how much better this copy is than anything seen before.

Warner have fully remastered the original print of Gone With The Wind for the Seventieth anniversary edition, and compared to the DVD released a couple of years back, it is a remarkable jump in picture quality. No matter how many times you have seen it before, watching this version is a completely new experience, not to mention the eight hours of special feature, including 3 hours exclusive to this release.

Amazingly the third film almost looks like it was made today, so good is the remastering job. The Wizard of Oz looks truly remarkable and it is almost hard to believe it is over seventy years ago that it was made.

The Lord Of The Rings trilogy is not quite one movie, but it is one story, and definitely one that is a blu ray must. It is an incredibly made trilogy and there can be no better way of watching this Peter Jackson directed classic.

But if you want to watch a movie that would make people rush out to buy a blu ray player, then make sure to get James Cameron's Avatar. It is an absolute visual feast, and should be on the top of your list.

There are many other great movies you really must see this way. Those with incredible special effects and visuals shine the most, like the comic book adapted films like Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and Iron Man. All of these titles come jam-packed with special features too. If you are a fan of the great animation done by Pixar, then you will want to get those too. The high definition really comes alive with movies like Wall-e, The Toy Story trilogy and the excellent Up. If you are buying these titles, look out for the combination packs that include an extra DVD version of the movie.

Blu-Ray Review - Lord of the Rings Theatrical Trilogy

Finally, in April 2010, the Lord Of the Rings Trilogy comes to Blu-Ray. You would think that with over nine discs of furry footed glory this set would be a must purchase for anyone who owns a Blu-Ray drive. But unfortunately it isn't. What it is, however, is another attempt by a studio to derive profits out of a faithful and committed audience as they wait until the superior Extended Editions are released in High Resolution format.

Peter Jackson's much lauded adaptation of JRR Tolkien's seminal fantasy novels is one of the greatest achievements in cinema and there have been a number of releases over the last five years. While waiting a year between the release of each film in it's theatrical rounds, movie goers were able to take copies of the last film home on DVD in widescreen or full screen versions.

Then after the last movie was released, came the Extended Editions. Once these were out there was no going back. Jackson added more scenes and more meaning to his already epic movies and what was already a mind-blowingly popular series became a true classic.

The Extended Editions were released in a time when movie goers realised that, with access to greater storage capacity on DVD discs they were able to view films as the creators intended. Documentaries and audio commentaries were added and the films themselves became well- rounded and beautifully paced.

So for the overwhelming majority of fans the Extended Editions are the definitive versions, the only versions. Which begs the question: "Why are they being made to wait the Extended Edition on Blu Ray and instead being placated by something that most people will only buy grudgingly." Surely this is not good for anything but the profit end of the business.

Take a look at the feedback online if you have any hesitations about how fans feel about this move from New Line. It will be interesting to see how many copies are sold of this inferior release. Hopefully fans can rally together and make at least one studio realise that customer feedback is valuable as a business making tool.

About

Hello, I'm Jamie F and i am an LOTR fan.

The regular LOTR movies are wonderful. But, the extended editions are a "must buy" for fans. They give you an in-depth look at how the films were made and the story behind the movies. The commentaries are funny and those alone are worth buying the trilogy.

This is one of the best movies of all time as many of the reviewers note and the Academy noted too. But, the acting goes largely unappreciated. The ensemble worked perfectly together. There was a real sense of all for one and one for all.

No matter how much we like LOTR and no matter how many times we have watch it, it pays to add to our collection the blu ray version at the cheapest price.

And this blog does just that - keep track of the The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy (Extended Edition + Digital Copy) [Blu-ray] at its cheapest price.
